Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Edward, Sophie and me.

Edward is a real lush - a lovely Christmas bib, a bottle of Champagne, a bottle of port and a huge bowl of sprouts. Isn't he posh. He is lucky because he can get on the work top and I can't.

Do you like my jolly reindeer antlers. They have bells on and make it hard to creep up on the cats without their hearing me. Last year I disgraced myself by stealing a piece of Danish blue cheese, wrapped in clingfilm, from the Morrisons bag. I ate it and had to be taken to the vet. My owner said it was the most expensive cheese she had ever bought. I am not sure what she meant! The vet remembered me the next time I went and said she remembered the smell. What me?

Sophie, our other cat, is a very shy little creature and doesn't seem to be looking forward to Christmas. She says that she intends to hide behind her tail and hope Christmas goes away. I suppose she is lucky having such a fluffy tail to hide behind. My owner says she has friends who take the same view of the festivities as Sophie does. They don't have any way of hiding!

Edward really loves sprouts

People say that cats don't like sprouts. Edward does. But he is very smart. He also likes Christmas cake and cheddar cheese. Apparently the aristocracy eat Christmas cake and cheddar cheese together. Edward is a very aristocratic cat. He gets cards addressed to Sir Edward Saunders and he is quite stuck up. I will hover near him and see if I can grab the icing from his cake! I do wish I could get on that worktop. He has such fun.

Isn't Christmas exciting. I loved the snow. Good for dogs but not for cats. But I have been in dreadful trouble. I had too much Champagne and cake this Christmas and was a little drunk and disorderly. And caught on camera!

This is my sprout

I pinched this from the kitchen cupboard. It's my idea of a sprout. It is really fun. I was excited when the postman arrived today. He brought a parcel, which I think must be for me, because it squeaks and squeaks. It sounds like more squeaky balls for the garden. (Yes, that's just what it was - 24 squeaky balls, but I had to give away some to friends. Boo!) Poor old Edward doesn't seem to have many presents. Our owner has bought some bird feeders and says they are Edward's Christmas presents. He is quite a bird enthusiast and brings them in the house. He is rather unlucky because they are usually dead.

Ho, ho, ho! 'Tis the season to be jolly.

Edward's balloon

This is my Christmas present for Edward. A blow up dachshund. I have a good mind to tie it to his collar so he is followed by his own dog all day. Please don't let us have mistletoe again this year. I couldn't bear to have the wretched cat kissing me.

Happy New Year to my mum, Maggie, Yardican Diamond Drop. Isn't she grand.
