ABBOTSLEY GOLF HOTEL

In case you don't know my owner and all of us live at Abbotsley Golf Hotel in St. Neots in Cambridgeshire. The hotel is in the middle of two lovely golf courses. I think my owner probably owns the golf course and hotel because people seem quite respectful of her. And the chef gives her left over sausages for Ditto and me. (Look carefully and you can just see me in the shadows in this picture.)

The special news is that Abbotsley Golf Hotel was awarded top Dog Welcome Hotel of the Year. You must all come and stay. We have special bedrooms where our doggy friends are always welcome. These rooms open straight out onto the courtyard so there are no silly stairs and corridors to navigate.

There is a special dog friendly woodland walk, 6 acres of special woodland, which is all fenced in and very safe. (Certainly no corgi could leap over the fence.) We laugh because it is a poop scoop free zone. As the message on the gate says, FLICK don't SCOOP!

There are also miles of footpaths across the fields, no need for leads here.

Dogs are welcome to play golf and if dogs are really good (mostly retrievers and labradors) they often play off-lead! I play off lead sometimes but am not yet a perfect golfing dog. I can't resist running after squirrels even though they always evade capture by hurtling up a tree. Edward, the cat, has caught two squirrels. I don't think I ever will but it relieves the boredom of golf.

We have our own sheep field with some very rare sheep but they are separately fenced off. We can kiss through the bars.

Oh yes - and dogs get their own sausage breakfast and can sit on the patios. Halfway round the golf course is the halfway house where there is always a water bowl and usually dog lunch available - yesterday's left over sausages!

For those who don't know about golf, there were two dreadful golf clubs that used to have signs that said "NO DOGS OR WOMEN IN FRONT OF THE CLUBHOUSE". Isn't that truly dreadful. So that is why our slogan is DOGS AND WOMEN WELCOME. Men and cats can come too!

For Cardigan Corgis - make sure your owner says he or she is coming with a dog and particularly mention Cardigan Corgis. We do have a smart day kennel - a kind of creche - for visiting dogs to be looked after while owners are away. Yes, we are very Dog Welcome and Dog friendly. See us on www.dogfriendly.co.uk  Dog Friendly even ran a competition with a picture of Ditto - yes, Dear, Darling, Delicious, Delightful Ditto (I know better) and people had to guess the breed of the dog. Most people thought she was a blue merle collie. Only three competitors out of over 500 guessed she was a Cardigan corgi and the winner won a holiday to visit us. They will then see the real Ditto - Dirty, Destructive, Delinquent, Demanding, Damnable Ditto. Am I envious? What me; of course not. Here is the special picture of Ditto.
